A Rude Awakening: New Beginnings Chapter 3

Becks P.O.V

"Shhh! She's waking up! Becks, can you hear me?"
A voice I didn't recognize came from the space above my head.

"Mom... Mom are you ok? Its me, Dai. Can you hear me?"

I opened my eyes, and saw Dai and and a man with mauve hair standing over me.

"Dai..." I tried to ask him what was going on, but my mouth was dry and my voice was non-existent.

Mom!" Dai hugged me. "I'm so happy you're ok!"
The mauve haired man put his hand on Dai's shoulder. He opened his mouth to say something but two squeals interrupted him.

"MOMMY!" Tom's scream penetrated the room and him and Mason jumped on top of me, causing pain to shoot through my upper body. I cringed and Dai and the mauve haired man pulled them off of me in a panic.
"NO, NO DON'T JUMP!" Dai yelled with one giggling toddler under each arm. Mason twisted in Dai's arms and fell toward the floor.
 I quickly tried to sit up in terror but I could barely get my head off of the pillow. Dai reached out his arm in a flash and grabbed Mason by the leg, his little head just inches from the floor. Dai got Mason into his arms again and I breathed a sigh or relief.

"Uh Dai, why don't you take them to their room?" The mauve haired man scratched his head and Dai nodded and went upstairs with the toddlers.
I turned my head to look at the man again. I took in his features, his broad shoulders, muscular arms and charming smile.
"Do I know you?" I managed to croak and he laughed, producing a melodious sound.
"You don't remember me?" He tilted his head. Even in a questioning tone his voice sounded familiar and calming. I looked at his face again and I recognized him as the man from the night before, from the alien ship.
"N? What are you doing here! What happened!" My voice was still dry and cracked but the words were recognizable.

"You blacked out when we jumped out of the ship. I brought you straight home, but the medical team will be here tomorrow to assess your condition."
I blinked, "My condition? What are you talking about?"
N scratched his spiky hair.
"Well we uh, think the aliens did something to you when they abducted you. The medical team will elaborate when they get here, but until they do, you're on bed rest."
Did something to me? I reached into my memory trying to remember what they did to me in that sterile room but everything came back blank.

N must have noticed the confusion on my face because he crouched down by the couch and pulled the blanket over my shoulders.
"Don't worry about it now, Just get some rest. Your kids are all taken care of."
I closed my eyes.
"Thank you N." I sighed.
He laughed.
"You can call me Neil."

The next morning when I woke up, the sun was just rising over the hills. The birds were singing and the chickens clucking... wait. I didn't have chickens. I made a mental note to check that out later and managed to sit up and painfully stretch my arms.

 N- I mean Neil, was sleeping on the couch to my right. He must have noticed I had woken up, because he started to get up. When he pushed the blanket off himself, I realized he wasn't wearing a shirt, and I got a glimpse of his muscular chest before I quickly looked away.

"You can look, I have a shirt on now," Neil chuckled at me. I blushed and slowly turned around again.
He quickly looked at his watch. "Shit! The medical team will be here any minute, and i'm not even dressed," Neil exclaimed, mostly to himself and ran off to the bathroom to get ready, cursing under his breath.

The medical team arrived just as Neil came running down the stairs in a suit and tie. They rolled in a hospital bed, which they lifted me on to, and a barrage of monitors and machines. My living room quickly became a makeshift medical clinic. The medical team worked quickly, performing many tests including one I recognized; and ultrasound. When they got what they needed they started packing up.

"Ms. Best, we will have the results for you tomorrow. I would highly recommend staying off your feet until then. We left a wheelchair in the foyer for your personal use. Have a good day."
The doctor was quick and 'to the point' with me. It wasn't long before the last of the stuff was going out through the door, when Logan burst into the house.

"What's with the doctors? Did Mia attack someone? Do they have internal injuries? HAVE THEY TALKED ABOUT SEEKING A LAWYER?!" His blonde hair was messy and he was wearing overalls and gardening gloves.
"Hey Logan, the doctors were just here to check up on me."
Logan's eyes widened.
"What happened?!? Are you hurt?"
"Didn't Adele tell you?"
"No..."
I sighed.
"Come here and sit down, I will tell you."
Logan slowly walked over and sat on the couch next to me.

"So... What's up?"
I put my hands on my lap and looked at the floor.
"I was uh.... Abducted by aliens..." I quickly trailed off and Logan stared at me like I was insane.
"So... Mia wasn't here?"
"Nope."
Logan sat there while I told him the story of my abduction, and my rescue by Neil.
"Neil? That's a stupid name." Logan scoffed.

"How lame, jumping out of a spaceship."
Commented Logan when I was finished and I raised an eyebrow at him.
"And you can do better?" I teased.
Logan smirked,
"Actually, I already did."

Logan helped me off the couch into the wheelchair, and wheeled me out into the back yard.
"Well, here it is! I built it myself! Do you like it?"
Standing in my yard was a brand new chicken coop, complete with chickens and everything!

"Logan! This is awesome! Thank you sooo much! I would hug you if I could get out of this stupid chair."
I thought for a moment.
"Here, bend over for a sec."
Logan bent over and I took his head in my hand and kissed him on the cheek.
"There, tha'ts better." I smiled and I thought I saw Logan blush.

"So, are you going to name them?" Logan asked.

"Logan, what do you even name chickens?" I giggled and he went over and picked one up.

"Well, this one has feathers, so lets name him Feathers!" The chicken squawked un-happily and hopped out of Logan's arms.

"I think the chicken would agree with me when I say that 'Feathers' is a stupid name." Logan faked a frown at my response.

"Well you should have named him first. It's too late to change it now, you'll confuse the poor thing."
I wheeled myself over to the chicken coop and picked up another chicken.

"Lets name this one Fred." I suggested, stroking its silky feathers.

"And you thought Feathers was a stupid name..." Logan mumbled.

"Oh shut up."
Fred hopped back into the coop and joined the the last unnamed chicken at the feeder.
Logan filled the feeder and the chickens chowed on ... well, what ever chickens eat.

"Woah! Look at this little guy go, he almost eats as much as me!"
I laughed at Logan admiring the chicken's appetite.

"Well, we should name it Guts then."

"I was thinking Lil' Logan..." Logan gave me a puppy dog face, widening his dark green eyes.

"Ok, Lil' Logan it is." I gave in and Logan smiled.

"DAD! WILLARD WON'T WEAR HIS PRINCESS DRESS FOR MY TEA PARTY!"
Mia's screech could be heard half way across Sunlit Tides. Logan sighed.

"I guess I have to go now, good luck! I will be over tomorrow to check on you."

"Ok see you then!"
Logan ran off in the direction of Mia and Willard's wails.

"So, who was that guy that was over here earlier?"
Neil plopped down on the couch next to me.
"Oh, that was Logan."
Neil raised an eyebrow
"So, is he a boyfriend?"
I almost spit my coffee out on my lap.
"WHAT!? Where would you get that idea?!"

"He has been here all day, and your children look an awful lot like him."
I laid down my coffee.
"No, Logan and I are just friends."
"So what about the kids? Are they his?" Neil asked.

"Yeah, I'm doing this thing called a 100 baby challenge. I was doing it with my husband but..." I broke off and touched my wedding ring, which I still wore, with my other hand. Tears welled up in my eyes as I thought about Jed.
I felt a warm hand on my back, and turned to look into Neil's reassuring lilac eyes.
"Are you ok?"
I shook my head, tears rolling down my cheeks. I wasn't Ok, I would never be ok again.

"What happened to him? You can tell me."
I looked into his eyes again, and for the second time since Jed died, I felt like I could trust someone.
"He died... In a fire."
Neil's face instantly filled with sympathy.
 "I'm so sorry..." he sighed. "And the twins? Was he their-"
"Their father," I finished for him.

Neil's eyes drifted towards them playing in the corner.
He turned to look at me again and wiped away my tears with his thumb.

"It'll get better. I promise," He reassured me.

I sniffled, smiled slightly, and tried to gather myself.

"So, how about you? Do you have a girlfriend back wherever you're from? Or a boyfriend I don't judge," I asked, changing the topic from Jed's death.

Neil chuckled to himself. "I'm 100% straight, but no, I don't have a girlfriend, which doesn't exactly back me up on that statement."

We both laughed.

"Momma!" Mason came up to me and crawled into my lap.
"What sweetie?" I cooed as I stroked his silky purple hair.
"I'm sweepy," he yawned.

I passed him to Neil "Here, Neil will bring you to bed."
Neil went to bring Mason upstairs, but before he left the room, I called out to him.
"Neil?"
"What?"
"Thank you."

The sound of crumpling plastic and slamming cupboard doors woke me up from my slumber on the couch.
"BECKS! EXPLAIN THIS INSANITY!"
The sound of Chloe's voice shocked me out of my grogginess.
I remembered the pain in my stomach before I could sit up too quickly, and slowly eased myself up into a sitting position.

"Chloe? Whats wrong?"
Chloe stormed into the living room.

"WHY DON'T YOU HAVE ANY MARSHMALLOWS AND WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING ON THE COUCH AND OH MY GOD WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU BRUSHED YOUR HAIR?!?"
She immediately started to try and fix my lopsided curly hair.

"Um, I don't remember when I last brushed my hair, I can't go upstairs to my bedroom, and I really don't remember when marshmallows became a nutrition staple."
Chloe looked at me like my head was screwed on backwards.
"MARSHMALLOWS NOT A NUTRITION STAPLE!?!? WHATS WRONG WITH Y- wait,"
She paused her rant and gave me another weird look.
"Why can't you go upstairs?"

I sighed "Because I was abducted by aliens and now I'm on bed rest."

"Oh, and I guess the aliens ate all of your marshmallows too," Chloe rolled her eyes.

"I'm serious!"

"You're insane!"

"Whats going on?
Logan entered the room still, for some reason, wearing the same overalls outfit as he was yesterday.
"Becks is saying she was abducted by marshmallow stealing aliens!"

Logan scratched his head.
"Well, she is telling the truth about the abduction part, but I'm not so sure about the marshmallows."

Chloe's eye began to twitch, a sure sign she was disturbed by what Logan had just said.

"Explain" She put her hand on her hip and looked at Logan and I.

I opened my mouth to start explaining, but before I could get a word out, my phone went off.

"Is that the Adventure Time theme song?"

"Shut up Chloe I'm trying to listen to the message."

The message ended, and an expression of shock washed over my face. The phone dropped out of my hand and crashed onto the floor. I tried to speak but nothing happened.
"Becks! Whats wrong?" Logan asked frantically.
I looked at the worried faces of my best friends.

"I'm pregnant."

E.T. ~ New Beginnings Chapter 2

*Authors note: Hey! Hope you dont get too confused by all the P.O.V hopping, ENJOY!*

3rd Person P.O.V

"The ship hasnt moved for 2 days sir." A dark blue haired man pointed at a green dot on the radar screen. The man he was addressing leaned in and peered at the screen.

"Its above Sunlit Tides" He observed and the dark blue haired man nodded.

"Has there been any suspicious activity there in the past few days? Any reports of missing people?"

"No there- wait... Just then a report popped up. A female is missing in that area."

The dark blue hair man looked at the other man who nodded deeply, before speaking into a headset.

"Send in Agent N, we've got a code 7."

Becks P.O.V

I slowly opened my eyes and saw only blackness. I winced in pain as my stomach cramped and sat up.

silence.

I didn't know how long I had been in this room, but something had changed. Every other time I woke up, the lights were on and the heart monitor was beeping at a steady pace. Now, there wasn't a sound to be made and the lack of light made me dizzy.

suddenly, the door of the room slid open and heavy footsteps came closer and closer to the bed. I held my breath and strained my eyes to see who or what was coming and I almost screamed.

The silloutte of a man stood in the doorway, and in his hand was a gun.

Dai's P.O.V

Cassandra and Robin took no time getting here and asking for every little detail about the night mom disappeared. Cassy was calm and collected, while Robin paced back and forth across the living room floor.

We finally came to the decision to report her as missing. Robin relayed everything I had told him back to the police and they decided that they wouldn't make it public yet, but they would keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.

It had to have been the longest day ever. Robin and Cassy, having done all they could do, had to return home to their children. They told me to call them if I heard anything. Adele and I lay on the couch, waiting for any confirmation that mom was ok. After an agonizing 12 hours of worry, the phone rang and I snatched it up.

"Hello?"

"Is this Dai Best?" the voice asked and I quickly responded.

"Yes it is." I bit my lip preparing for the worst.

"Dai, we found your mom. We are sending her home with one of our people as we speak."

I almost let out a cry of relief. Mom was ok.

"Thank you so much!" I breathed into the phone and then hung up.

Adele kissed me and we ran out to the porch to wait for mom to come home.

Becks P.O.V

The man walked across the room to the stretcher where I was lying, and rested his hand on my shoulder.

"Please don't hurt me!" I pleaded, tears running down my face.

"Are you Becks Best?" The man asked, in a calm, slow voice.

I blinked away the tears and nodded. The man slid his arm around my waist and I jerked away, causing pain to shot through my stomach and head.

"Its ok Becks, I won't hurt you. I'm going to get you out of here, ok? " The mans voice put me at ease, and I let him wrap his muscular arm around my waist. He helped me off of the cold metal stretcher and helped me balance myself on my feet. My legs felt like jello. How long had it been since I stood up? I tried to catch a glance at the mans face, but it was to dark to see any of his features, other than his broad, muscular shoulders.

 "Come on, lets get out of here." The man offered me his hand and I crossed my arms in front of my chest. "I already told you i'm not going to hurt you! If we don't hurry they will find us." His voice was still calm like before, but with a hint of urgency. I let him grab my wrist and he gently lead me down the cold, dark hallway. We walked for what seemed like forever, my bare feet aching from the cold metal floor. All of a sudden, the hallway ended, and a metal wall rose up in front up us.

"Shit! It's a dead end!" The man exclaimed and a hissing laugh came from the darkness behind us.

"Its a trap too, although I'm sure you already came to that conclusion yourself N."

A male looking creature with green skin in a futuristic body suit stepped into the dim light of the hallway.

The man, N, or whatever his name was, swung me into his arms and pointed his gun at the man, who was an alien by the looks of it. I gasped as N pulled me closer to him, until I could almost feel his hot breath on my neck. I stared in horror as the alien came closer to us.

"What are you doing here? Saving the girl I suppose? Well its too late!"

The alien hissed at N and I gasped. Too late? What had they done to me! Another pain shot through my stomach and I almost passed out in N's arms.

N growled "What are you doing here! We had a deal. You could stay in our galaxy if, and only if, you didn't cause trouble!

"We weren't causing trouble, we were just..... experimenting." The alien hissed, putting extra emphasis on the word 'experimenting'. An evilly cold grin formed on his face.

"That's it!" N yelled and pulled the trigger on his gun. A yellow ray of light shot out and literally vaporized the alien.

I froze in horror and N grabbed my hand and dragged me back down the hallway. Lights came down from the ceiling and flashed red and a voice came on over a hidden speaker system.

"INTRUDER ALERT"

Sirens blared and N yelled "RUN!"

We ran back down the hallway we came through, every step sending shooting pain through my body. I clutched my stomach with my arm and yelled out in pain. N grabbed my other arm and continued to pull me along. We came to a door which N shot down to reveal just blackness.

"WE NEED TO JUMP" N yelled over the sirens

"I'M NOT JUMPING" I yelled back, my vision blurry from the pain.

A beam of light streaked across the room about 2 inches away from my face, charring the wall in front of me.

I screamed and N wrapped his arms around me.

"WE ARE JUMPING NOW!"

N hurtled us into the blackness just as the pain took over and I passed out.

Where's Mom? ~ New Beginnings Chapter 1

*Authors note: Omg, finally LOL This post was supposed to be a new years post but i scrapped it. Here is the official Chapter 1 of  New Beginnings (I had no idea what else to call it) I hope you enjoy! Anyways, on with the show

Becks P.O.V

*beep*

*beep*

*beep*

"Ugh" I moaned "Stupid alarm clock"

Without opening my eyes, I reached out my arm to shut off the alarm.

Wait... I didn't have an alarm clock...

The beeping continued at a steady pace, and I opened my eyes.

I was in a small white room. To my left was a heart monitor, which i realized was attached to me.

I sat up quickly and pain shot through my head. The monitor started to beep faster as a wave of panic washed over me.

*beep*

*beep*

*beep*

I tried to calm my breathing, but to no avail.

Suddenly i could hear foot steps coming towards me.

I quickly lay back down, causing another jolt of pain to my head, and closed my eyes.

"Hmmm that's strange..."

A voice hummed.

 "Her breathing patterns clearly indicated that she was awake."

"Should we put her out again?"

a second, female sounding voice joined in.

"Its probably best, get the needle."

Needle? I almost screamed, but I wouldn't dare move or open my eyes.

A sharp pain jabbed my arm, but before I could let out a yelp, my limbs went numb and I fell back into a  dark, dreamless sleep.

Dai's P.O.V

"Ok Dai, don't panic, you've got this under control." I told myself as I paced the living room floor.

I had gone downstairs to get mom for breakfast because the twins were screaming, and she wasn't there. The bed was still unmade, and her slippers were gone from their usual spot by her bed, indicating that she had gotten up.

I went out to the nursery to see if she had waken up to tend to Mason or Tom, and fell asleep in the rocking chair. The chair was empty and the boys were in their cribs screaming at the top of their lungs for their mom, who was not coming.

I brought the boys downstairs and strapped them in their high chairs. While they were messily eating their cereal, I searched the rest of the house. It was empty except for Lourdes, Jeanie and Maggie who were still sleeping.

I went back and took the boys out of the now sticky highchairs, making a mental note to bathe them later.

"DAI! WHERE IS MOM!" Maggie yelled, running into the kitchen wearing her clothes for school.

"Uh mom is... Gone out to get something somewhere." I said quickly and she regarded me strangely.

"Well get me breakfast! I have school in like, 10 minutes!"

A quick glance at the clock confirmed that it was 10 to 8

"Go wake up your sisters and I will make you breakfast." Maggie rushed up the stairs and I quickly popped some toast in the toaster and poured up 3 glasses of orange juice.

Jeanie and Lourdes sleepily followed Maggie down the stairs, yawning and rubbing their eyes.

"Quick quick! The bus will be here soon!" Maggie directed her sisters to the table and did their hair while they sleepily ate their toast.

"Maggie my hair is fine!" Complained Jeanie who pulled her hair out of the hasty braid her sister had put in it.

All three girls managed to get out the door just as the bus got here, and I was left to clean up their mess and tend to the twins.

Before I knew it, it was five 'o clock in the evening and I was exhausted. The twins were napping and I was just about to nap myself, when I remembered.

I had a date with Adele tonight!!

I quickly jumped off the couch and into some nice clothes, brushed my teeth, and grabbed the small black box I had been hiding under my pillow since Adele aged up.

As soon as the babysitter got to the house I drove across the street to pick up Adele for our date.

Adele was wearing a beautiful flowy dress and heeled boots. She had her curled hair pinned up, the way she knew I liked it best.

She got into the car and I leaned over and kissed her.

"Hey Dai"

"Hey Beautiful"

I kissed her again and she giggled.

"Well your quite the romantic tonight, Dai"

I smiled.

"Thats because tonight its just you and me"

"And not my dad"

"And not your dad" we both laughed.

Last night at my party when I aged up, I had been looking forward to spending time with Adele. The problem was, somehow, no matter where we went in the house to kiss, Logan always found us and broke it up.

We held hands in silence the rest of the way to our destination, a lovely boardwalk park in the center of town. The main attraction of the park was a 60 foot high viewing platform with a telescope.

We walked hand in hand down the board walk in the fading light.

"Do you believe in God Adele?"

Adele looked up from the ground and looked into my eyes.

"Yes, I do"

"Do you believe he picked out the perfect name for you?"

Adele's dark green eyes searched mine and her brow furrowed.

"I guess so, I mean I never really liked my name, but I believe that God chose it for me."

I gripped her hand tighter.

"You know, the letters in everyone's names have a special meaning. I can tell you yours if you want?"

Adele smiled.

"Sure, Dai, I would love that."

"Well," I began, turning around to face her holding both her hands in mine.

"The A stands for Adele, plain and simple, and the D stands for Dai."

Adele blushed and she looked at her feet.

"E stands for Eternally. L for Loving. E for Eachother. A, D, E, L, E. Adele and Dai eternally loving eachother."

Adele smiled one of those smiles I love so much and looked into my eyes again.

"Thats so sweet Dai!"
I kissed her and lead her towards the viewing platform.

"There is one more thing I want to show you." I smiled and she followed me up the stairs.

When we finally got to the top, Adele wrapped her arms around my neck and I gently held her waist with my hands. Our breathing was still heavy from the climb and the cool air felt good on my skin.

"The stars are beautiful here Dai!"  Adele kissed me and I pulled away.

"Dai?" Adele started to say but stopped when I went down on one knee.

"Oh my..." Adele stood speechless as I pulled the black box out of my jacket pocket.

"Adele, ever since I first met you, when we were toddlers, you made my heart flutter like butterfly wings, and I could never understand why.

 As we grew older, I realized that I didn't want to be just friends with someone who made me feel so happy and light. That first day we kissed, at the beach, even though we were just kids,  I knew I wanted to be with you forever. 

I needed you, my beautiful fairy princess, in my life until the end of time. The whole time we were teens, my love for you only grew stronger, and when we shared ourselves with each other that night I had never been happier.

I know we already discussed this, but I want to make it official. 

Adele, will you marry me?"

Adele's hands flew to her face and tears ran from her eyes. I opened the box to reveal a beautiful engagement ring, a gold band with a magnificent diamond set in it. 

She pried a hand away from her face and I delicately slid the ring on her finger.

Without even stopping to admire the jewel, she fell into my arms and our lips locked together, mine made to fit seamlessly into hers. 

"Yes. Forever yes. I love you Dai" Adele broke away long enough to whisper her response into my ear and we kissed again, our love burning brighter than the stars in the sky.

"WHERE IS MY MOM. SHE MISSED WILLARDS TEA PARTY TODAY"

Mia's shout and the slam of the door made Adele and I jump away from each other where we were making out on the couch.

"Mia! Shouldn't you be in bed?"
Mia placed her hands on her hips.

"It's only 9:30 Dai, I'm not two years old"
Adele raised her eyebrow and I sighed.
"So? Where is my mom?"
I was about to say she was just upstairs, but then I remembered.

"Ummmm I don't really know......"
Adele looked at me concerned and Mia's eyes widened.

"YOU LOST MY MOM?"
Maggie, Jeanie and Lourdes ran down the stairs.

"What does Mia mean? Did you really loose mom!?"
Maggie exclaimed and Lourdes crossed her arms.

"How come Mia doesn't have to go to bed at 8?"
I ran a hand through my hair.

"I really don't know what happened to her or where she is. She was gone when I woke up but I didn't say anything because I thought she would have been home by now! I don't know what to do!"
I almost broke down in tears and Adele wrapped her arms around my waist.



"Did you call my dad and aunt Chloe yet? Maybe she went to visit them?"
Adele slipped my phone out of my pocket and dialed the number to the cabin where Logan and Chloe were staying.
"Hey dad! Is Becks there with you? No.... No everything's fine! Yup, positive. Love you too, bye."
Adele closed the phone with a frown.
"Nope, they haven't seen her since they left."



I buried my face in my hands before calling the only other person I could think of, my sister Cassandra.
"Hey Cassy, its me, Dai. Yeah, um well... Mom is missing. No I didn't call the police yet. Ok, see you soon."
"Cassandra and Robin are coming."
I said and Lourdes walked up to me, tears in her green eyes. I lifted her into my arms and hugged her.
"Don't worry. We will find mom"
